144 – Iatro

This little piece is the result of some late night/early morning noodling. Made using a graincloud ensemble and some added effects. It started life on my netbook, but had to be completed on Niall’s desktop pc. It reflects how I am feeling today about what lies ahead today.

Too Late

As my creative noodling sessions were constantly reaching a dead-end over the weekend, I decided to use my lunch hour to create another stretch piece. This track is around 45 seconds of an M83 track, pulled out and effected.

Once again, only available as a stream for copyright reasons.

143 – Tunturi

Creatively this past weekend, I have felt like a lone polar bear stuck out on a vast expanse of Arctic tundra with out a food source in sight. Early this morning I woke and decided to look at creating something generative that could represent how I’ve been feeling. Using Reaktor and Live on my son’s PC, I came up with Tunturi. Music for treeless heights.

142 – Ether

This is something that uses the stretch techniques, but in a different way. This time a number of small files (10 secs) were generated in Reaktor. They have then been stretched to a couple of minutes each and layered along the timeline. A heavy dollop of reverb was then used to blend things to create a ‘normal’ length piece of around five minutes.

This track has an ethereal feel to it. To me, it’s like the haunting sound of some long forgotten cathedral voices suddenly found and bound together. I hope you like it?

The netbook did not cope, so this was completed on my son’s PC. Now, if only I could persuade him to play with Live and Reaktor instead of watching DVDs!

Ave Verum Corpus K618

This is to be the last stretch piece for a little while as I feel it’s time to get back to creating original work for you to be able to download and enjoy. This is one of my favourite pieces of music, when played forwards, at normal speed. Once stretched and effected however, it sounded better when played backwards, feeling slightly less predictable.

Turn out the lights/hide the light from your eyes, lie back and give youself 20 mins to listen to this. Slow your breathing, bring down your heart-rate and drift off.
