Wait it out
I just love Imogen Heap. She could sing the ingredients from the back of a cereal box and I’d be enchanted. I took the beautiful vocal snippet from the second track on her album ‘Ellipse’ then stretched, effected, transposed and layered small segments of it. The result is an eight minute dream-like soundscape that still sounds just the way she does. Hope she’ll forgive my using a sample without permission? I’m too shy to ask for fear she’d not like what I’d made with it.

good stuff… but where is her voice? I can’t hear it at all, except in the last minute.

She is in there, fading in and out, but effected, transposed and very much stretched. I can hear her breath at the start and can make her out at 1:15, 3:30, 5:04, as well as at the end too. I made a 1 hour version, but had second thoughts about putting that up.

Just tweet her and give a link to this. I’m 99.99999% sure she won’t mind.

Love it! xxx It’s wonderful to hear people’s interpretations and noodlings on songs from Ellipse already. I really enjoy hearing how and where the songs end up. They get up to all kinds of things once they make it out the studio. Thanks for continuing the thread. I think it’s very beautiful. xx

I’m really taken with Immy’s Ellipse. It’s like a special gift, and greedy pig I am, I find that although those 13 songs are satisfying, they also leave me wanting so much more. So your stretchout is great, James. And what an honor to have Imogen actually listen to the result and weigh in! Nice work!
