Struggled the past couple of days to make anything of note. The hacking of the site and the subsequent server changes, home tutoring Niall and the day job have all taken their toll. Whilst teaching Niall about Black Holes, he asked how one might sound. So, I took a big bunch of Number Station recordings, treated them to tons of effects in Live and then stretched them massively. I played this to him last night and said, I think it could be something like this, if there wasn’t a vacuum in the way. He said, ‘like a hoover’, Dad?

This is worth a late night listen at 50% on headphones. The 20 mins will fly by… if you love a nice bit of drone, that is!? ;)

This is a very long and gently undulating drone. It will not suit all tastes as, at an hour long, it may prove tough to stay with. To get the most from it, you really need to use headphones, at about 60% volume.

The strange effect that my method has produced sounds as if I have mixed up some orchesteral samples or other small passages of music. I hear moments of classical strings, choral vocals, bells and cymbals fading in and out. However, the sound sources were six instances of self-generating noise machines. These were heavily effected and then stretched out from an initial five minutes to the hour long version here.

Comes only in 320kbps form as the artifacts on a 96kbps version were too prominent at times. I love long pieces of sound to float away on. I hope some of you do also?
