Hearing of the passing of a Twitter and Facebook friend, Steve Morton, last month knocked me for six. He’d died a few weeks earlier and although I’d noticed I’d not heard from him for a while, the thought that anything was wrong never crossed my mind. They say online friends are not true friends, but his kind and supportive words always gave me a sense of the connection of being something real. I’ve struggled to create anything over recent weeks. I miss his tweets. He would have told me not to worry and be patient, knowing that the flow would return at some point.
This slow, meditative piece, a reworking of ‘Okno‘ from 2009, is for him, his family and anyone lucky enough to have known him… real-life or otherwise.
‘Recycler’ will be up on BandCamp in a few days.
