This piece is made up of a couple of Reaktor 3 ensembles that have been rendered out as a stereo sample and then had effects added a layer at a time, eight times in all. This was one way of keeping the Samsung from spitting chips! ;)

I went to bed with the intention to make sound, but as my head hit the pillow, I was almost instantly sound asleep. I just woke at 4am from a dream where I was at a fairground trying to find someone, I can’t recall who, but I was panicking somewhat. When dreams become nightmares I do a little dreamweaving to change the course of events, the result of which ended up my having tea with Brian Eno at Cafe del Mar. This is a recollection of the looping tune that was playing in the background! V.odd but quite enjoyable!

Not much in the way of sleep last night. I woke early and lay thinking, falling in and out of momentary dreams, where everything was in monochrome, with a hint of a colour I now can’t recall. I made this soundscape soon after, to capture my mood.

I am a little anxious that not all of the pieces I place here are being noted for what they are, a kind of aural sketch pad/diary. Some posts will have an undeveloped or unfinished feel to them, it’s an intentional thing. Hopefully, this won’t stop you from enjoying them. Maybe grab and sample something and turn it into something complete. I’d love to hear what you create from it.

Had some fun playing with Ableton Live 8 really late last night and early this morning. It’s a bit heavier on the CPU, but seems pretty stable. There are a lot of new features for me to explore. :)

Here is the output from a couple of hours playing around.

When I hear this I have a sense of blue & grey.

I had a dream last night that I could play the piano so beautifully. It was a sorry realisation when I woke to the knowledge that I can only plink and plonk in reality. I managed to hold on a little of the melody rattlling around the grey space of my head and get it down.

There seems to be an odd timing thing going on in this piece, I’m not quite sure it is in any time signature… if that’s the case, I do like it like that.
