325 – Alba

Spurred on by yesterday’s little piece, I turned my attention to using a couple of single second samples of Judie Tzuke’s vocal, from the magical Stay With Me Till Dawn, to create a gentle lullaby soundscape. Made in the early hours, just before the sun came up.

All done in Ableton Live using multiple instances of Simpler and internal effects.

128 – Olamic

A thought crossed my mind yesterday as I noodled. What will become of the Internet and its users streams of consciousness in the years ahead. Will my little pieces live on, tiny drops in an ocean of ideas? A year, a decade, a century or longer, I wonder?

124 – Russia

And so we are down to the final two Eurovision ambient pieces. This is the Russian entry, turned into a short sweet little lullaby of a track. Lights out and drift away.

108 – Lull

This morning I woke and noticed that a Twitter creative favourite of mine, @mapmap, had posted a recording of a rather sweet and wonderfully self-crafted Music Box. As I began to wake from slumber I opened up Live and started to see how much I could harness the beauty of the sound he had made and manage to hold on to its essence for a longer period.

Firstly I recommend that you check it out via his blog (and then stay for a long while on his site to look though his many inventive and beautiful posts). Then come back to this…

So this ambient drone, is the result. Turn out the lights, put headphones on at a lower volume, lay down and relax. It sent me back to REM sleep.

I hope you like it? I hope he does too!

103 – France

The French entry was difficult as I really had to delve into the overall waveform to find something I liked. In the end, I managed to create a very simple, but sweet electronic lullaby. Its rhythm seems to fit in with the pattern of the rain outside that is falling upon the rooftops. It’s a shame I can’t include that too. I have no decent mic. :(
