359 – Ventus

The news of the horror unfolding in the Philippines weighs heavily and I made this piece to show my love and support for the beautiful people of that country and to urge you to make a donation to one of the agencies that are on the ground, trying to help.

358 – Platea

This simple piece makes use of a couple of creative commons samples from FreeSound.org laid down as a backdrop to compliment the dampened haunting pads made using multiple Ableton Samplers with heavy processing using Reaktor 5 FX. It’s another piece that I’ve made to suit my mood right now. I hope you like it?

349 – Jetsam

This piece is essentially a working of Flotsam from a couple of years ago. This piece recycles the original to bring them both to a fitting conclusion. It’s a long slow moving, sometimes dreamy, sometimes not so drone with some little bursts soft analogue distortion that I really like. I hope you do too?

Old hard drives

Whilst rummaging through old hard drives, cd and dvd disks, I stumbled across something that was probably my first ‘proper’ attempt to create a piece of meaningful music by myself. It’s from 2003, not long after I had lost my Mother and was living in Spain feeling that my life at the time was playing itself out, without me having any sense of control.

Hearing it for the first time in years, it’s thrown me straight back to the moment I made it. I know I used an early version of Reason, with a few samples and, oddly for me, my dodgy vocal via a dodgy mic.

I won’t treat it as a finished work… it’s very muffled and missing something… so not bothering with a 96kbps version, but thought I would share it because its heart was (and still is) in the right place.

343 – Vjezna

My next little piece using the wonderful samples at http://www.svengrahn.pp.se/sounds/sounds.htm includes recordings from the Vjezna HF Transmitter talking to Soyuz and a more modern transmission between the ISS and TsUP. The melody was made using a sample from China 1 broadcasting the tune “The East is Red”, which I have looped and heavily effected.

It’s quite hypnotic and calming… try listening to it on a loop before sleep? You’ll soon be floating in your dreams.

Latest release on Bandcamp – Hiemal – Free Download

Just a little announcement to let you know that my latest release ‘hiemal’ is now available to download for free from Bandcamp. Grab it while you can as Bandcamp does limit the number of free versions.

326 – Snowfall

My creative juices are not quite as flowing as they sometimes can be so in the early hours of the morning as a light flurry of snow was settling outside, I decided to try and make something generative in Ableton Live using a Max for Live step sequencer and its randomisation feature. Just like the individual snowflakes, as each note landed and was captured the overall piece seems to have a natural feel to it.

Hope you think so too?

Where You Are (Guitar Intro) – Bailey Tzuke

I noodled around with the lovely opening guitar riff in this track. No vocal used this time, but I may change that in the future.

Only available as a stream for copyright reasons. That said, there is every chance I may be asked to remove it. I sincerely hope not.

Ambient Compilation 32

Here is my thirty-second compilation for you all to (hopefully) enjoy.

Consider checking out all my releases on Bandcamp? You can grab pristine versions of most of my work so far and have a variety of formats to choose from. They are free to download, but if you can contribute a just couple of pounds/euro/dollars, it would help and delight me v.much.

Thanks for your support.

There are two zip files, one for lower bitrate MP3s and the other for the rather better 320kbps files.

All of the tracks here are free for you to download and distribute.

311 to 320 – 96kbps – zip file (54Mb)
311 to 320 – 320kbps – zip file (176MB)

320 – Brume

A long, slowly moving piece reflecting the heavy fog that hung in the air in the South-East of the UK earlier this week and thus, I fear, the imminent arrival of winter.
