Nightmares last night of watching the tumbling mass of whole towns and villages rushing headlong toward oblivion.

I woke at 5am and tried to make something to counteract the feelings that had been stirred. However much I tried I couldn’t stop this piece from feeling a little mechancial and clinical. Under and over it goes.

I’m going now to take some time away from Twitter and this blog so that I can concentrate on a few ‘real life’ things that need my attention. That said, I’m also going to begin a new sound/art project that I will share, but only once it is fully complete. This should be sometime in spring of next year.

I leave you with this little piano piece, full of little imperfections that somehow make it quite lovely to me. I hope it has the same effect on you.

My plans to take a couple of weeks holiday, to allow me to put 100% of my time into making something a little less ordinary, have had to take a bit of a backseat until the new year. There is just too much going on workwise at the moment.

Still, the upside is my simple noodle sessions should continue to produce the odd interesting piece that will connect with you.

How odd it is.

My journey out yesterday afternoon to capture some ambient sounds and textures was not so successful, with little standing out for me upon my return to the computer.

This failure was however offset by the BBC Radio 3 broadcast of Discovering Music – 1964: The Rise of Minimalism that accompanied me as I drove home.

It’s funny how the mechanisms of life can throw up such wonderful unexpected moments of joy.

Made in the early hours of this morning, I hope you like this? Although this is not a true minimalist piece, the influence of yesterday’s experience is definitely audible.

Inspired by a couple of hours listening to a BBC Radio 3 programme about Minimalism in music, I literally spent just five minutes inside Live 8 & Komplete 7 and made up a minimal piece of my own, on-the-fly, to share with you. Less than two minutes long, I hope you like this sparse and simple little thing. :)
