Another piece born out of experimenting in the small hours.

This is a reworking of track number 275 | Amiss, although hopefully it should be near impossible to tell. It was made using the piano piece as a sonic backdrop that was then ripped apart by a Max for Live plug-in called ck.stretch88. The result was thrown through one of my odd fx chains and then finally smoothed out and elongated using PaulStretch.

Despite its 17 minute length, slow movement and lack of transients, if you like drone or shoegaze, you should enjoy it. I hope so. Try it with the lights out as you drift off to sleep…

After almost losing control of my car when a tyre suddenly failed, driving back along the A303 last night, in horrible conditions, I can’t believe how incredibly calm I felt as I finally brought the car to a stop just short of a roadside ditch. This measure of tranquility stayed with me as I managed to fit the spare and head on my way home.

Just a twinge of back pain is all that I have to worry about.

Sleep was strewn with images of my not managing to control the car as I crashed in various ways, always managing, somehow, to remain unhurt.

I made this piece, not long after I woke, to reflect the events of yesterday.

I was recently introduced via @greenwoods to ‘Sleeps with the Fishes‘ a 1987 collaboration between Pieter Nooten and Michael Brook. I’m immensly grateful to her for enlightening me. If you love ambient, this is a must have album.

One track in particular I love is Several Times II, but at just over two minutes, its beauty is all too short for me. To help me sleep last night, I stretched and layered it with a little bit of additional reverb into an 11 minute aid to allow you to drift gently off. Here is the result of that.

Only available as a stream for copyright reasons. That said, there is every chance I might be asked to remove it. I sincerely hope not.

I implore you to track the album down and buy it.
